These are two different purchases and confusing them is the most expensive mistake a Mexican brand makes with creator marketing. One buys attention, the other buys a file.
What an influencer sells
Access to their audience. You are paying for a post to appear on their profile and reach the people who follow them. The value is their credibility with those specific people, and it disappears the moment the post is deleted.
What a UGC creator sells
A video the brand owns and publishes itself. Nobody needs to know who filmed it. The value is in the asset, and it keeps working for as long as the licence runs and the creative keeps performing.
The price difference is structural
An influencer prices on reach, which means a large following costs a great deal regardless of how good the video is. A UGC creator prices on production, which means a great video from somebody with no audience costs a fraction of the same video from somebody with a million followers.
When each one is right
Use an influencer when you need credibility with a specific community, a launch moment or an association with a person. Use a UGC creator when you need volume, when the video is going into paid advertising, or when the asset has to live on your own channels.
Most Mexican brands need both, in that order
Build the UGC pipeline first because it is cheaper, more controllable and directly measurable. Add influencer work on top when there is a specific audience worth renting. Doing it the other way round is how budgets disappear without a measurable result.
