Frequently asked questions

Do I need an RFC to work as a UGC creator in Mexico?+

For any client that is a registered company, yes. Companies need a valid CFDI invoice to deduct the expense, and they cannot issue one to somebody without an RFC. Individual creators register with the SAT under their own name, which is enough for most of this work.

Should I charge in pesos or in dollars?+

Pesos for Mexican clients, dollars for clients abroad, and always name the currency in the quote. Creators working with United States brands often price in dollars and invoice in pesos at the exchange rate on the invoice date.

Which selling season matters most in Mexico?+

El Buen Fin in November is the biggest retail event of the year, followed by Hot Sale at the end of May. Both are planned months in advance by retailers, which means the content has to be filmed well before the dates.
