Almost nobody starts in UGC full time. You start with a job, with classes, or both, and the practical question is whether you can invoice in the meantime. In Spain the short answer is yes, with details worth checking before signing anything.
What to check first
Your employment contract
Many contracts include exclusivity or non compete clauses. If your employer is in the same sector as the client hiring you, that is a real problem. If not, usually it is not.
Your schedule
Filming at weekends or in the evening does not interfere; committing to deliver within twenty four hours when you work nine to six does.
Your situation as a student
Studying and invoicing are compatible; what changes is the administrative side, not the permission.
How it works in practice
You can be registered as self employed and be an employee at the same time. You contribute on both sides, and there are specific rules for that situation worth discussing with an accountant once, not every month.
For tax purposes everything is added up in the annual return: the salary and the profit from your activity. That means your effective rate can rise, and setting aside a share of every invoice from the start avoids the surprise in June.
The strategy that works best
Start with clients who buy deliverables, not availability. A pack of three videos with a week's deadline fits a life with a job; a full day on location midweek does not.
Film in blocks. Two well organised sessions a month produce more than filming a little every day.
Be honest about deadlines. It is better to promise five days and deliver in four than to promise tomorrow and disappear.
And keep one rule: if the side activity starts costing you your main job in attention or energy, it is no longer a supplement, it is a decision to be taken deliberately.
When to jump
The honest indicator is not the good month, it is recurrence. When you have three repeat clients, predictable income for six months and a waiting list, the comparison stops being emotional.

Combining is the normal way to start, not an embarrassing stage. Our guide on how to become a UGC creator covers portfolio, pricing and first clients.
