A franchise network has a problem that an owned brand does not: two hundred owners, two hundred Instagram accounts and two hundred different ideas of what the brand is. Central content is almost never used, and local content almost always drifts from the standard.

Why the brand's material sits unused

Three reasons, all fixable.

It does not look local

A video shot in Sao Paulo does not convince in Belem, and the franchisee knows that better than head office.

It does not fit what they need

The network sends an institutional piece; the franchisee needs to advertise this week's promotion, a job opening and holiday opening hours.

It arrives late and is hard to find

If the file is spread across three drives and a WhatsApp group, it does not exist.

The model that works

Central base, local layer

Head office produces what requires standard and investment: launches, product, national campaign. The franchisee films what only they can film: their store, their team, their customer.

A kit per unit

For each campaign, a folder with a finished video, a version without voiceover, a version without captions, and reserved space for the unit's address.

Short rules

One page with what is allowed and what is not: claims, music, logo use, what must never be said. A forty page brand book does not get read.

Approved local creators

A list by region, with agreed prices, so the franchisee can hire without going through approval every time.

One single place

One library, simple search, obviously named files.

What has to be in the contract

Usage rights covering the whole network, including units that have not opened yet, with a defined term.

Image consent from staff, because in a network the video circulates far beyond the unit where it was filmed.

A rule about who may boost: if each unit can spend media budget on the piece, that must be stated, with territory, so two units do not compete for the same audience.

The classic mistake

Forcing every franchisee to publish the same piece on the same day. That produces two hundred identical posts, low reach and irritated franchisees. The network gains more by giving adaptable material and measuring who uses it than by imposing uniformity.

Franchising rewards those who separate what is standard from what is local. Our complete UGC guide for brands covers briefing, usage rights and running creator content as a repeatable process.
