A creator's first three reviews are worth more than the next thirty. Not because they are better, but because they decide whether your profile enters the flow of enquiries or stays still.
Why they matter so much
A profile with no reviews is a risk for the buyer. A profile with three recent, concrete reviews is not. That jump, from zero to three, is the hardest and the most profitable of your career as a creator.
How to get the first three
- Accept two small jobs at the start, even below your target price, and deliver them early.
- Deliver before the deadline. On time is normal, early is remembered.
- Ask for the review at the right moment, meaning when the client writes to say they are happy, not three weeks later.
How to ask without seeming pushy
One line at delivery: "If the result is useful, a review helps me a lot. If something needs fixing, tell me first instead." That formula does two things: it asks for the review and it opens the door to a correction, avoiding the lukewarm review nobody sees coming.
What a delay really costs
One day late on a video costs more than the margin on the job itself. The client remembers the delay, not the quality, because the delay broke an advertising calendar. If you are running late, say so before the deadline, not after: warning in advance is almost always forgiven, silence never is.
What to do with a negative review
Reply once, briefly, without arguing, and move on. A profile with one negative review and twenty positive ones is more credible than one with twenty positive and nothing else.
