A UGC video for ads is not a creative, it is a test variable. Anyone buying one is testing nothing.

How many variants a test needs

For a first run on Meta or TikTok in Germany: at least six variants, three creators, two hooks each. The body stays the same, the first three seconds change. That is where most of the performance is decided.

What to measure in the first 72 hours

What to measureWhat it tells you
1. Hook rateAfter three seconds.
2. Hold rateTo the middle of the video.
3. Cost per purchaseNot per click.
4. FrequencyTo spot wear out.

A low hook rate means the opening is wrong. A high hook rate without sales means the offer is wrong. The video is rarely the problem when both hold.

Why translated American hooks underperform here

The standard American opening claims a result, often with an exaggeration. In German the same sentence sounds like a promise without cover, and scepticism is the default response here. Openings that work name a situation or a limitation: "I tried three of these, two were useless." That construction builds trust instead of resistance.

Legal points that can stop a campaign

Advertising claims about effects, health or price advantages are contestable in Germany. Check the statements in the video the way you would check a landing page, before budget runs behind them. A formal warning letter costs more than any reshoot.

When to refresh creative

When frequency rises and cost per purchase rises with it. In practice every two to four weeks. New hooks on the same footage are enough, provided the rights cover variants.
