The Christmas season in Spain has a feature that catches foreign brands out: it does not end on the twenty fifth of December. The Three Kings arrive on the sixth of January and a large share of children's gifting is decided between Christmas and that date.
The buyer is not the user
In gifting, the person watching the video will not use the product. That changes the whole script: they are not looking to feel the benefit, they are looking for the reassurance of getting it right. The formats that work answer "will they like it?" and "is it the right size?", not "look how good it is on me".
The real calendar
November is research, the first half of December is the main purchase, and from the twenty sixth of December to the fourth of January there is a second wave for Kings. Producing only for the first half of December leaves out an entire selling window that also faces less competition.
The shipping cut off is content
A gift arriving on the seventh of January is useless. A video clearly stating the last order date to receive in time prevents complaints and, paradoxically, speeds up decisions. It is the most useful information a brand can give in December and almost nobody puts it on video.
Packaging and presentation
In gifting, the box weighs as much as the product. Show how it arrives, whether it looks presentable, whether it can be shipped straight to another address without an invoice inside. These operational details settle the nervous buyer's real doubt.
Film in October under fake winter light
Christmas content gets produced in October, while there is still daylight and creators are free. Shoot indoors, with warm light and no recognisable exteriors. Anyone trying to film in December pays peak season rates and delivers late.
