How many followers do you need to do UGC in Germany? None. That is the structural difference with influencer work, and in Germany it holds even more strongly than elsewhere.

Why followers count for even less here

German brands buy creator video like media: they assess the file, not the person. What gets checked is sound, structure, meeting deadlines and whether a proper invoice will arrive. Follower count answers none of those four questions.

And in B2B, recruitment and regulated categories, being known would actually get in the way: there the person should be credible, not famous.

What German brands check instead

  • The portfolio. Three to six videos, with a recognisable niche.
  • The audio. First rejection criterion.
  • Reliability. Deadlines, revisions, clear communication.
  • The ability to invoice. Without it a company cannot hire you.
  • The language. Natural German, not translated sounding, with English as a plus.
  • Reviews and completed orders, where they exist.

The mistake that costs time

Delaying the start to build reach first. While you build an audience no client asked for, you are not building the portfolio every client asks for.

The second mistake: quoting a low follower count in your profile. It points at a criterion that does not count here and weakens the rest.

What to do instead

Shoot three or four sample videos, one of them an explainer, state your niche and languages, publish packages with price and turnaround, and register your activity so companies are allowed to pay you. Then take orders on a marketplace and approach brands already advertising.

On UGC MATCH the profile is free, and no field asks for reach.

Frequently asked questions

Really zero followers?

Yes. The criteria are the portfolio and reliability.

Do you need a public account?

Useful to be found, not necessary to work.

Do brands ask for statistics?

In UGC rarely. If they do, they are usually looking for an influencer.

Does being known hurt?

In B2B and recruitment rather yes, credibility matters there.
