An enquiry is not a job yet. It is a race against three other creators, and in Germany it is usually won by whoever replies fast and attaches a proper quote.
Why a written quote is expected
German companies need something they can pass on internally. A chat message with a number does not serve that purpose. A short quote with scope, rights, deadline and net price gets forwarded, a chat message does not, and being forwarded is half the booking.
The four questions you send back
- Which channels? Organic or paid ads too.
- For what period? The basis for pricing rights.
- How many videos and variants?
- By when does it need to be delivered?
Those four questions also show that you have already worked for companies that asked them.
Reply speed
Within a few hours, if necessary just confirming you will send the quote the same day. Anyone who takes two days loses the enquiry to someone who was faster, regardless of quality.
Tone
Factual and using the formal address, unless the brand uses the informal one first. No long introductions, no declarations of enthusiasm. German buyers read enthusiasm as filler, not as motivation.
What not to do
- Give a price before you know the rights.
- Accept a stated budget immediately while the scope is unclear.
- Offer free test videos. That lowers your value in the same sentence in which you meant to prove it.
