Laval and Longueuil are two cities a Montreal brand drives through without noticing, and that is exactly what makes them interesting for a creator. There are plenty of businesses there, they have budget, and almost nobody comes to offer them video.
What the suburbs actually run on
Light industry, warehouses, food distribution, car dealerships, clinics, shopping centres and family businesses that have existed for twenty years. These are not photogenic brands, they are companies that sell every day and have never had content beyond catalogue photos.
They want somebody nearby
A Laval business that needs its warehouse filmed will not pay a downtown creator to cross two bridges. Proximity is a genuine selling point here, and it belongs in writing on your profile: available on the north shore, on the south shore, with a vehicle.
French first, English optional
As everywhere in Quebec, advertising has to exist in French. In these cities much of the customer base is francophone, and English is only requested when the brand also sells elsewhere in Canada. Asking in the first message avoids producing a version nobody will use.
Explain before selling
Many of these clients have never hired a creator and do not know what they are buying. A short video made with their own product beats a generic portfolio. They are not buying a concept, they are buying an example they recognise.
A client base built on recurrence
A dealership, a clinic or a distributor needs content every month, not once. Sell a package with a calendar rather than an isolated video: it is simpler for them to buy and it completely changes your income.
