Rouen is an hour from Paris, has a working port, a belt of ecommerce warehouses and a region full of food producers. It is not a city creators dream about, which is exactly why it is a good place to work: the clients exist and the competition does not.

The client base

Ecommerce and logistics

The Seine corridor is full of warehouses and the brands they ship for. Those brands need product video constantly, and many of them have no local supplier.

Food and drink

Normandy sells dairy, cider, apples, cheese and seafood, mostly through producers who now also sell direct.

Industry and port

Chemicals, energy, shipping and the service companies around them, all with recruitment and explanation needs.

City businesses

Retail, restaurants, clinics, gyms, universities and a heavy tourism flow around the historic centre.

The Paris factor

Being an hour from Paris changes the maths. You can take Paris clients at Paris rates without paying Paris rent, and you can offer something the capital does not have: locations that do not look like every other reel. Half timbered streets, a river with real ships, a cathedral, countryside twenty minutes out.

Sell that explicitly. When a brand wants a video that does not look like a small flat in the eleventh, the creator who can offer a different backdrop wins the brief.

Rates

A single video for a local business commonly runs 90 to 160 euros when starting, and 220 to 450 euros with a portfolio. Packs of three to five sell between 600 and 1,400 euros. Ecommerce brands and industrial clients negotiate above that, especially with usage rights for paid media.

Keep two rate cards, one local and one for Paris clients, and never show the wrong one.

What to film to get hired

Ecommerce is the fastest route in. Take three products you already own, film each one properly, and show what a brand would receive: a hook in the first two seconds, the product in use, one clear claim, and a call to action. That is the format the warehouses' clients are buying by the dozen.

Food is the second route. Normandy producers respond to content that shows a real kitchen and a real texture, not styling.

The practical part

Auto entrepreneur status lets you invoice from day one, with contributions on what you receive, and the VAT threshold to watch as you grow. For industrial and port sites, agree in writing what may be filmed and who appears, since safety and security rules there are strict and not negotiable.

Rouen is an underrated base with a location advantage and a client base nobody is fighting over. Our guide on how to become a UGC creator covers the portfolio, pricing and outreach.
