A UGC video bought for ads is not a content piece, it is a test variable. Anyone buying just one is not testing anything.
How many variants a test needs
For a first run on Meta or TikTok in Spain: six variants minimum, three different creators, two hooks each. The body of the video can be similar. What changes is the first three seconds, because that is where almost everything is decided.
What to measure in the first 72 hours
| What to measure | What it tells you |
|---|---|
| 1. Hook rate | The share who get past the first three seconds. |
| 2. Hold rate | Who reaches the middle of the video. |
| 3. Cost per acquisition | Not cost per click. Clicks are cheap and misleading. |
| 4. Frequency | To know when a variant is worn out. |
If hook rate is low, the problem is the opening, not the product. If it is high and sales do not follow, the problem is the offer.
The Spanish detail almost nobody exploits
The same video, with a subtitle change and a neutral voiceover, works for Latin America. If you buy broad territory rights from the start, you multiply usage without filming again. It is the purchasing decision that adds the most performance and it is usually left out of the budget.
When to refresh creative
When frequency rises and cost per acquisition rises with it. In practice, every two to four weeks on an active budget. You do not need a new shoot: new hooks on the same footage are enough, as long as the rights cover variants.
