A restaurant does not need pretty photos of its dishes: it needs to fill tables on a Tuesday. Those are two different things, and UGC serves the second far better than the first.

What actually fills tables

  • Sound. The knife cutting, the crunch, the griddle. In hospitality, audio does more work than image.
  • The arrival walkthrough. What the street looks like, the door, the first table. It reduces the friction of going somewhere unknown, which is the real barrier.
  • The atmosphere at the real hour. A Thursday at half past nine, with the noise and the people actually there. An empty venue filmed at five in the afternoon communicates the opposite of what you want.
  • The menu and prices visible. Not showing prices generates immediate distrust.
  • The dish people order. Not the most photogenic: the one that sells most.

Which creators to hire

The local neighbourhood creator before the food account with lots of followers.

Deciding where to eat is geographic: someone from the area, who mentions the street and the metro stop, converts more than a national account. And costs a fraction.

For openings and events, add two or three sector creators with wider reach. But the weekly engine is the local one.

The format almost nobody uses

Staff content. A video of the chef explaining why they do something a certain way, or the manager saying which dish they recommend on a rainy day, converts better than any review.

It is cheap content, owned, and does not depend on hiring anyone.

The brief that produces good material

Include: which dishes are filmed, at what hour, what to show of the venue, three hooks, the disclosure wording and the list of what cannot be claimed about allergens.

That last point is not minor. Allergen information is mandatory and sensitive, and is not improvised on camera.

The Spanish calendar

The peaks are Christmas and company meals, Valentines Day, Mothers Day, and the spring and summer terrace season. In tourist destinations, the calendar is set by the high season.

Where to go next

In hospitality, video sells the first visit. Our complete UGC guide for brands explains the rest of the process.
