Swimwear is one of the few categories where Brazil sets the world reference. Brazilian brands sell globally, and the reason is not only the climate: it is the understanding of fit, movement and real bodies that the local market has developed over decades.

What the buyer wants to see

A swimwear piece is bought for three reasons, and none of them show up in a studio photo.

Fit

How it sits standing, sitting, from behind, walking. A photo hides exactly what the buyer wants to check.

Movement

Whether it rides up, marks, holds, or disappears. Thirty seconds of movement answers that.

A body like theirs

A piece on a size 38 mannequin tells a size 46 buyer nothing. This category sells when the audience recognises itself.

The calendar is rigid

The season starts long before summer. New collections appear in September, the sales peak runs from November to January, and content production has to be finished before that.

That creates two working windows: the collection shoot, between August and October, and restocking content during the season, when the brand already knows which piece is selling and wants more video of it.

The northeast and the northern coast stretch the season, which is why many brands shoot there in the middle of the southeastern winter.

The formats that work

FormatWhat it shows
The try onThree to five models, the same body, an honest comment on each.
The real size guideHeight, measurements, which size the person took and why. This reduces returns more than any exchange policy.
The piece in waterThe test nobody does and everybody wants to see.
How to combine itCover up, hat, bag, the whole look. It raises basket value.
CareWashing, chlorine, sunscreen, lifespan. Simple content that builds trust in the brand.

What the brand has to get right

Real body diversity, not symbolic

A brand showing a single body type loses most of its own market.

Send the right size

A piece that is too tight or too loose ruins the shoot and the video.

Define the setting

Beach, pool, studio, home. Each implies different logistics and a different cost.

Explicit image rights

Swimwear content involves a person's body. Scope, term and channels must be written down, and an indefinite term is not acceptable in this category.

Where to go next

Swimwear rewards brands that show the product on a real body. Our complete UGC guide for brands covers briefing, usage rights and running creator content as a repeatable process.
