Choosing a niche is the decision that raises your rate fastest. Not because it limits your work, but because a brand would rather pay double to someone who already understands its product than half to someone starting from zero.
Why specialising doubles the price
A generalist creator competes with everyone. A cosmetics creator competes with five people in their city.
Specialisation also speeds up your production: you already know how to film a texture, which hook works in that sector and what questions to ask in the brief. You produce faster and charge more. It is the only combination that exists in this craft.
The sectors that pay well in Argentina
- Cosmetics and skincare. The most active and the most repeat buying. High competition, but also the highest volume.
- Supplements and fitness. Sustained budgets and a constant need for new creative.
- Clothing and accessories. High volume, mid prices, very seasonal.
- Food and drink. From specialty coffee to snack brands. Good margins if you know how to film food.
- Services and apps. Fintech, education, health. They pay well because explaining an intangible product is hard.
- Babies and parenting. A small, very loyal niche: if you have children, the barrier to entry works in your favour.
The ones that pay less
Local tourism, neighbourhood restaurants and very small businesses. They should not be dismissed early on, because they build a portfolio quickly, but they do not sustain a business.
How to choose yours
Three questions.
Do you have real context?
If you use the product, you understand the client's problem and speak their language. That shows on camera.
Is there a budget?
Look at your own feeds to see which brands in that sector are running ads. If nobody is advertising, there is no money.
Will you stick with it for a year?
The wrong niche gets abandoned after three months. Pick one that will not bore you.
The mistake of choosing by trend
Many creators pick the most visible niche of the moment and end up competing with a hundred people. The boring, well paid niche always outperforms the glamorous, saturated one.
It can be changed
It is not a lifetime decision. A niche is tested for six months, measured by how many clients it brought, and adjusted. What does not work is changing every three weeks.
