Finding your first clients here depends less on talent than on timing. The industrial fabric moves to the rhythm of its trade fairs.

Who answers first

Rarely a marketing department.

In a twenty-person firm, the person who answers is the owner, the person in charge of export, or the one who runs the brand's account on top of their real job. They have neither a purchasing process nor an established supplier, which is exactly what suits you.

Two profiles answer particularly fast: brands that have just redone their website and only have studio photos, and those selling abroad with no video in the language of their market.

Conversely, the large houses go through agencies and tenders. They are good clients later, never first.

What to send

Short, precise, and already made.

Three videos, of the same kind, showing a product comparable to theirs. One sentence saying what you film and in how long. The fact that you invoice. Nothing else.

What makes the difference is not the presentation, it is showing that the result is reproducible. A single successful video reads as luck; three of the same kind read as a supplier.

Write in the company's language, even if you deliver in another. A message in Italian to an Italian small firm gets an answer where a message in a foreign language is set aside for later.

The offer that unlocks the first order

A small order, dated, with no commitment.

Offer one product, two formats, delivery on a precise date, a firm price. The aim is not the margin, it is to turn a stranger into a client who has already approved an invoice in your name: the second order no longer requires any decision.

Do not undersell for all that. A very low introductory rate sets the reference for everything that follows, and it attracts firms that will never buy anything else.

Finally, state what the order covers in duration and channels. The obligations applicable to your invoicing and the statements to include depend on your situation and are checked with an accountant, before sending.

Where to find the first ten names

What a first message that gets a reply contains

The brand's name and the precise reason for writing, a link to two samples, a proposed format, a price, a date.

What you do after a refusal

Ask what was missing, note the answer and come back in three months with exactly that element.

The channel that works for you

There is only one, and it is slow.

It is the short list you follow up every month: the firms visited, met at a fair, or that replied without ordering. A brief note, a new video, no sales pitch.

The first order rarely arrives on the first message. It arrives on the third, the day the need appears and your name is the only one available. The purpose of following up is not to convince, it is to be there on that day.
