Video on the product page is not there to attract traffic. It is there to stop the person who already arrived from going back. That is a different job from an ad, which is why it is built differently.
Where it goes
Below the image gallery, above the long description. Not as the first element and not autoplaying with sound: in Spain much of the traffic arrives on mobile and in public places.
How long it should run
Twenty to forty seconds. Someone on the product page has already decided they are interested, so they need answers, not a hook.
What it has to answer
The four questions that keep a page open without producing a purchase:
- How big it really is, next to a familiar object.
- What it is made of, close up and with hands.
- How it is used, in a real context and not a studio.
- What arrives in the box, in full.
Why it matters more than it seems
In fashion and footwear, a product page with video reduces returns, which is where the margin is lost. In appliances and home, it answers the space question. In both cases the effect is measured in the order that does not come back, not in the click.
The most common mistake
Reusing the ad creative on the product page. The ad interrupts and promises, the page reassures and proves. A promise aimed at someone who has already clicked creates suspicion exactly when the opposite was needed.
