The most frequent answer to an outreach message in France is not a refusal. It is a polite silence.

That is disconcerting, because you cannot tell whether to insist. And it is that doubt which makes most people give up after three weeks, exactly when the work was starting to produce something.

Silence is not a no, it is an unspoken "not now"

In a small organisation nobody replies to say no. There is neither the time nor the habit.

The message therefore did not fail: it arrived at the wrong moment. The product is not launched yet, the budget is committed, the person is travelling.

The practical consequence is simple: your job is not to convince with the first message, it is to still be there when the right moment arrives.

Write to a person, not to a brand

A message sent to a generic address lands in an inbox nobody considers their own.

Look for the name of the person handling content or online sales. The job title varies a lot from one company to another, and that is normal: what matters is that they exist and are named.

A message starting with a name gets an answer; the same message without a name becomes one more piece of mail.

What the first message must contain

A concrete observation about their product page or their site. One precise sentence proving you looked.

What you propose to film, in one line.

The price and the lead time. Without them, the person has to reply in order to find out, and they will not.

A link that opens in one click, with no access request.

And nothing else. No introduction, no career history, no attachment.

What makes a message go unread

A vague subject line. "Collaboration" or "Partnership" looks like everything else arriving daily.

A wall of text. Beyond six lines, on a phone, the message is postponed, which means never.

And a request for a call before any information: that is extra work offered to someone who only wanted to know whether it was possible and at what price.

The rhythm

Five messages a day, written one by one, five days a week. That volume is sustainable and enough.

Note everything: to whom, when, what you proposed, what was answered. Without a register you will chase those who said no and forget those who said later.

And keep that rhythm even when you have work. Outreach stopped for two months is paid for three months later, precisely when you need clients again.

The occasions that reopen a door

A new product going online. A season starting. A page that has just been redone. A competitor publishing videos.

Those moments give a legitimate reason to write, and they turn a follow-up into useful information.

That is also what separates professional outreach from repeated sending: you are not asking again, you are coming back with something new.

What is prepared once

The message template, the list of brands, the two linked samples and the price grid.

What to change when nothing replies

The person targeted, not the message: aiming at recruitment rather than communication changes everything.

What not to do

Building a list of addresses found here and there for a mass send. It is the move that exposes you most, for the lowest yield, and it lastingly damages your sending address.

Writing to ten people at the same company. They talk to each other, and it shows immediately.

And insisting three times in ten days. In France that is the surest way to turn a "not now" into a "never again".
