The message you receive from a brand is not a job yet. It is a race against three other creators, and it is almost always won in the first reply.
Speed matters more than perfection
A brand that writes usually has a campaign date bearing down. Replying within a few hours, even just to confirm you have read it and will send the quote the same day, puts you ahead of someone replying impeccably two days later.
The four questions to send back
- Which channels is the video for? Organic only, or paid ads too.
- How long will you use it? That is the basis for pricing rights.
- How many videos and how many variants?
- By when?
Those four questions do two things at once: they give you the data for the quote and they tell the brand you have worked with people who asked them.
The first message that converts
Short, in three parts. One line confirming the category is yours, with a concrete example. The four questions. One line on timing: when you could film and when you would deliver. No long introduction, that is what the profile is for.
What not to do
- Do not give a price before you know the rights. It is the most common way to give away the most expensive part.
- Do not accept the stated budget while the scope is unclear.
- Do not offer a free test video. It lowers your value in the same sentence in which you meant to prove it.
The Spanish detail
Informal address is the norm across most of the sector, but with a large company or a professional firm it is worth starting formally and following the register the client sets. Switching register mid conversation is the only thing that sounds odd.
