Costa Rican craft and jewellery brands hold an asset industrial brands cannot buy: a visible process made by an identifiable person. That is the product, and video is the only format that conveys it.

What actually converts

Hands working

The lathe, the hammer, the loom, the wood. It is the most profitable format in the category and works even without narration.

The material before it is a product

The seed, the raw wood, the unpolished metal. It explains the price better than any argument.

The maker speaking

How many years they have worked, where they learned, how long one piece takes. It is the differentiator no industrial brand can replicate.

Scale on the body

In jewellery, the number one doubt and the main cause of returns.

Imperfection explained

"Every piece is different because it is handmade." Turning variation into an argument prevents bad reviews.

The foreign audience, the one that pays best

This is the category's strategic decision. A tourist or an international buyer pays three times more for a Costa Rican handmade piece than the local market does, and buys on origin.

That means content in English, with context: where the workshop is, which materials are local, what the design means. A video showing only the finished product loses exactly the argument that justifies the price.

Which creators to hire

For the process, someone who can film detail and manual work. They do not need to be a fashion creator: they need patience and good framing.

For wear, creators with variety of skin tones and ages, because a piece looks completely different depending on who wears it.

The brief that produces good material

Include: the exact dimensions, the material and its care, how long one piece takes, three hooks, the disclosure wording and what cannot be claimed about materials and origin.

That last point matters more every year: sustainability and fair trade claims have to be substantiable.

The Costa Rican calendar

The peaks are the dry season with tourism, Christmas, and Mothers Day in August. For export, the calendar is that of the destination market.
