Pricing UGC in France has two layers. The first: what your work is worth. The second, which many discover too late: what you collect is not what you keep, because social contributions are levied on revenue, not on profit.
Reference ranges
Starting points, not fixed rates.
- Starting out, no portfolio: a hundred to a hundred and eighty euros per video.
- With a solid portfolio: two hundred to four hundred euros per video.
- Packs of three to five videos: between four hundred and fifty and twelve hundred euros.
- Monthly package of four pieces: between seven hundred and eighteen hundred euros depending on rights.
Agencies and large brands pay above direct digitally native brands, but with longer terms and more back and forth.
What the status takes
As an auto entrepreneur, social contributions are calculated as a percentage of what you collect, whatever your expenses. A three hundred euro job therefore does not leave you three hundred euros.
The rule that prevents bad surprises: set aside the corresponding percentage at every payment, immediately, in a separate account. Those who wait for the quarterly declaration to do the maths are exactly the ones who end up overdrawn.
What is charged separately
This is where most creators let money slip. Creating the video is one service. Authorising its use is another.
- Organic use on the brand's channels: normally included.
- Paid media: separate, thirty to a hundred per cent of the base price depending on duration and territory.
- Category exclusivity: paid for, because it blocks you with competitors.
- Whitelisting: running ads from your account is a different product with its own price.
- Raw footage: if they ask for it, charge for it.
Breaking those lines out in the quote is not asking for more: it is selling more things.
How to hold your price against an agency
Agencies negotiate professionally. They will ask for a volume discount, which is legitimate, but will sometimes try to obtain advertising rights without paying for them.
The answer fits in one sentence: the price covers production and organic use; advertising distribution is a separate line. Said calmly, that closes the subject in most cases.
Expensive mistakes
Charging by the hour instead of by deliverable. Accepting product in exchange for pieces destined for paid media. Cutting the price without cutting the scope. And forgetting that a video running for six months in advertising is worth far more than one posted once organically.
Where to go next
In France the rate rests on a portfolio that justifies it and a licence sold properly. Our guide on how to become a UGC creator covers building that portfolio.
