American brands hire Mexican creators for a specific reason: they need Spanish language content that sounds like a person and not like a translation, and the rate is a fraction of a Los Angeles equivalent. That combination is stable and it is not going away.
What they are actually buying
Accent, setting and references that a United States Hispanic audience recognises. A video filmed in a Mexican kitchen by somebody who speaks the way that audience speaks outperforms a Spanish dub of an English original by a wide margin.
What they expect that local clients do not
Faster communication, a written agreement, delivery in a specific file spec and a clear invoice. American clients are not more demanding creatively, they are more demanding administratively, and creators who are organised win the repeat work.
How to price
Quote in dollars, at a rate above your domestic range and below what they would pay in the United States. Both sides consider that fair. Do not quote your peso rate converted, because it signals you do not know the market you are selling into.
Invoicing across the border
Issue the CFDI correctly for an export of services and keep the payment documentation. This is normal and manageable, but it needs to be set up before the first job rather than improvised at the moment of payment.
Finding the work
English speaking marketplaces, agencies serving Hispanic audiences, and direct outreach to brands already advertising in Spanish badly. A portfolio page with two or three pieces in English and the rest in Spanish tells that client everything they need to know in ten seconds.
