A wildlife season that sells itself, a heavy industry that does not sell at all, and two very different ways of invoicing.
The wildlife season defines the year
Six calendar markers.
The main observation period.
The weeks of heavy visitor numbers.
The preparation months, beforehand.
The low season, for other clients.
The local school holidays.
And the tourism fair periods.
Filming wildlife has rules
Seven obligations to respect.
Ask the competent authority for permissions.
Respect the required distances.
Never approach or lure an animal.
Work through an accredited operator.
Do not alter the habitat for a shot.
State nothing about the species without a client source.
And have the edit approved before release.
What tourism clients order
Six frequent formats.
An excursion presentation.
An accommodation video.
Booking content for the season.
A visitor testimonial.
Event coverage.
And a series of short formats.
Industry and its suppliers
Six client categories.
Industrial and processing sites.
Suppliers and subcontractors.
Logistics and heavy transport.
Maintenance companies.
Port companies.
And technical training bodies.
What they order
Six frequent formats.
A workplace safety video.
Recruitment content.
A company presentation.
Coverage of an installation.
Internal training.
And communication toward the town.
The foreign client changes the rate
Six lines to write into the quote.
The price in a single, written currency.
Which party bears the transfer fees.
The duration and territory of the rights.
The number of outings included.
The number of revisions included.
And the reference time zone.
Invoicing the real cost of Patagonia
Your distances are long, your suppliers far away and your weather windows narrow. A provider coming from elsewhere has to pay flights, nights and a day lost in transit: that is your margin, and it belongs in quote lines, not in conversation.
What a coastal, nature-facing town orders
| The buyer | Their typical order | Their window |
|---|---|---|
| An excursion operator | The place and the boarding | The watching season |
| An accommodation | The room and the view | Spring and summer |
| A seafront business | Short videos | The whole season |
What cannot be filmed freely
Protected wildlife. Approach distances and permitted zones are regulated, and to be confirmed with the competent authority: an image obtained outside the rules earns a penalty, not a sale.
What a single season imposes on rates
The year's income plays out over a few months. A rate that ignores the empty months is a rate set too low, and it is easier to correct at the start of a season than midway.
What the platform brings
On UGC MATCH, joining is free and there is no subscription: you are visible by category, language and country, and the order keeps a record of the brief and the delivery, which also protects you when an outing is cancelled. The brand pays at ordering, the funds are not released straight away, and payment goes out on approval. The platform retains 10% of the price on the creator side, who therefore keeps 90%, and charges the brand a 6% service fee, with a minimum of 1.50 EUR.
One last marker: sell shooting days and a method, never an animal. That is what lets you sleep the night before an outing.
