Costa Rican fitness does not look like other markets. Here physical activity happens outdoors: surfing, hiking, cycling, the beach. That completely changes which formats sell and who should be hired.

What actually converts

The real activity, not the gym

A supplement tested before a hike up the volcano converts more than the same product on a weights machine.

Real progress, with a stated timeframe

"Eight weeks, three times a week." Without a timeframe, the transformation looks fake.

The usage routine, not the result

When they take it, how they prepare it, what it actually tastes like.

Performance in heat and humidity

That is the local question. How a product holds up in a workout at thirty degrees with ninety per cent humidity.

The price objection

"I thought it was expensive until I worked out the cost per serving."

What cannot be said

Claims about curing, treating illness or guaranteed results are regulated, and the risk sits with the brand.

Put an explicit list of forbidden phrases in the brief, and another of acceptable formulations. A creator saying on camera that a supplement cures something can cost you an entire campaign.

Which creators to hire

People whose starting point resembles your customer's, not competitive athletes.

And use the local advantage: a creator training outdoors in a Costa Rican landscape produces material that works in both the domestic and the international market. It is content a United States brand cannot film at home.

Look for variety of age too. A forty five year old man starting to walk converts an audience no twenty year old surfer reaches.

The brief that produces good material

Include: how the product is used, at what moment, what the main objection is, three suggested hooks and the list of forbidden claims.

And specify the location. In Costa Rica, where it is filmed is part of the sales argument.

The Costa Rican calendar

January is the peak, driven by new year resolutions. The dry season is strong because of outdoor activity. The rainy season is slower and it pays to communicate home training and consistency.

Where to go next

In Costa Rican fitness, the outdoors is the differentiator. Our complete UGC guide for brands explains the rest of the process.
