Beauty in Germany is a high volume category with a suspicious audience. Selling here means showing substance, not results.
What the video has to show
| What the video shows | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| The texture | Close up, on dispensing and on application. |
| Absorption in real time | Uncut. The question is always whether it stays greasy. |
| The scent in words | Because it cannot be filmed. |
| The amount per application | Because the audience uses it to work out the cost per month. |
| The ingredients | Visible or read aloud. In Germany that is not a detail: many buyers read the list before purchasing. |
What a cosmetic may never claim
Cosmetics do not treat, do not cure and do not eliminate a condition. Sentences like "cures eczema" or "permanently removes wrinkles" do not belong to a cosmetic and can trigger a warning letter. Put the banned formulations in the brief before filming, not in the approval afterwards.
Why before and after is risky here
Two shots with different lighting read as manipulated to a German audience immediately, and comparative depictions are additionally contestable when they suggest a result that is not substantiated. Texture, application and an honest assessment carry further.
What one honest sentence achieves
"The smell takes getting used to, the effect on dry patches I found good." That construction lifts the credibility of the whole video, and in Germany it is almost a selling point in itself.
What to buy for a test
Six variants across three creators with different skin types. Someone with oily skin does not recognise themselves in a video shot on dry skin.
