Living off UGC in Argentina is possible, and there are creators who do it. But the decision is not made with enthusiasm: it is made with a spreadsheet. Here are the real numbers.

The basic maths

Work out how much you need per month to live, in dollars, and add thirty per cent for taxes, contributions and quiet months.

If you need a thousand dollars a month, your real target is thirteen hundred. At an average price of a hundred and fifty dollars per video, that is around nine pieces a month.

Nine videos a month is perfectly achievable. The hard part is not producing them: it is selling them every month.

The recurring client rule

A creator who lives off this does not have nine different clients a month. They have three clients each taking three pieces.

That is the real threshold: three recurring clients on a monthly package. With that, the base is covered and one off work becomes extra profit rather than survival.

Chasing recurrence from day one changes the whole trajectory. A client who comes back is worth five times a new one.

When not to quit yet

  • If you do not have at least three months of expenses saved.
  • If your UGC income has not covered your floor for three consecutive months.
  • If more than half your revenue comes from a single client.
  • If you have never had a bad month. You will have one, and it is better to have it while still on a salary.

The healthy path in Argentina is usually hybrid: keep the job, produce in the evenings and at weekends, and quit when the side income matches the salary for a quarter.

The Argentine advantage

If you work with clients abroad, your cost of living is in pesos and your income in dollars. That asymmetry makes the threshold for living off the craft far lower than in Europe or the United States.

It is the main reason an Argentine creator can go full time sooner than a Spanish or French colleague.

The real risk

It is not running out of clients: it is instability. Inflation moves your floor every month, and a client paying at thirty days leaves you without cash even when you invoiced well.

Two habits solve it. Always ask for fifty per cent up front. And save the tax percentage in dollars as soon as you get paid, in a separate account.

Where to go next

Living off UGC is a consequence of selling methodically, not of producing more. Our guide on how to become a UGC creator covers that base.
