UGC in paid advertising is a volume game. One video is not a campaign, it is a guess. What makes the format work on Meta and TikTok is producing enough variants that the platform can find the one that works.
Plan for variants, not for a masterpiece
Four to eight versions of the same message, with different openings, different creators and different first lines. The creative that wins is rarely the one the team liked in the review, and the only way to find it is to let the auction decide.
The first three seconds decide the spend
Almost the entire drop off happens before second three. Front load the product, the problem or the surprise. A video that spends five seconds introducing itself has already lost most of the audience it paid for.
Fatigue arrives faster than expected
A performing creative in a Mexican audience will decay in weeks, not months, especially in a narrow interest segment. Plan the next batch while the current one is still working rather than after performance has already dropped.
What gets rejected
Health and body claims, before and after imagery, anything implying a personal attribute of the viewer, and copy that promises a financial outcome. Rejections mid flight cost more than a review before launch would have.
Keep the raw footage
Extra takes, alternative openings and B roll let you cut new variants without commissioning a new shoot. Ask for the raw files in the original agreement, because asking three months later usually means paying again.
