A UGC portfolio is not a showreel. It is proof that you can film a product you have never seen before and make somebody want it, and eight pieces are usually enough to prove it.

Film what you already own

You do not need a client to build a portfolio. Pick products from your own home across three or four categories: beauty, food, a gadget, something for the house. Film each one as if a brand had briefed you, complete with a hook, a demonstration and a reason to buy.

Show range, not volume

Four excellent pieces in different categories beat twenty variations on the same one. Brands are scanning for whether you can handle their category, so the value of the portfolio is in its spread rather than in its length.

Include one unscripted talking piece

A thirty second video of you speaking to the camera about a product, without a script visible on your face, answers the question every brand actually has: can this person carry a message without sounding like an advertisement.

How to present it

A single page or a shared folder with the videos playable in order and one line of context each. No password, no download step, no request for an email. Every barrier between a brand and your videos costs you work.

Keep it current

Replace the weakest piece every time you deliver something better. A portfolio that has not changed in a year signals a creator who has not worked in a year, whether or not that is true.
