TikTok is where most Canadian UGC ends up, and the two language communities on it behave differently enough that treating Canada as one audience wastes half the budget.
The French side is a separate feed
Quebec has its own creators, its own trends and its own timing, and content moves between the two communities far less than brands assume. A video that performs across English Canada may have almost no reach in Quebec and the reverse is equally true.
The audience is broader than people think
The platform is no longer only young. Meaningful adult usage means a brand selling household products, tools or services is not necessarily in the wrong place, and assuming otherwise leaves an efficient channel unused.
Sound is part of the format here
Unlike a feed people scroll silently, a large share of viewing happens with sound on. That makes audio quality a genuine performance factor and it makes a poorly recorded video underperform in a way it might not elsewhere.
Advertising rules apply exactly as they do anywhere
Disclosure requirements, misleading representation rules and category restrictions do not soften because the format is casual. The platform having a young, informal register does not change what a brand is responsible for.
Do not repost a finished ad
Content that was cut for another placement reads as an import and performs accordingly. The efficient approach is filming with this platform in mind and adapting outward, rather than filming for a television sensibility and pushing it here.
