Testing creative does not mean launching videos and hoping. It means moving one variable at a time and deciding in advance what counts as a result.

The minimum matrix

  • Hook: how the first three seconds begin. Situation, question, objection, result.
  • Angle: which argument carries. Price, time saved, quality, comparison.

Three hooks across two angles gives six variants. Fewer means you are observing chance.

How long a variant runs

Until there is enough data for a decision, in practice two to four days on small budgets. Switching off after twelve hours regularly throws away variants that would have won.

The internal habit that ruins German tests

Using the approval round as a quality filter. If three people from the team decide which two of the six variants may run at all, you are no longer testing the market, you are testing the team's taste. The market has different preferences, and it pays. Run all six and let the numbers filter.

When to switch off

When cost per purchase is clearly worse than the others and enough data exists. Not when a variant feels uncomfortable. The creative nobody internally liked and that sells is a recurring pattern.

What follows a winner

Two new variants from its hook, changing only the angle. That creates a series instead of starting over every time.
