Sherbrooke combines a university population, a network of food producers and outdoor tourism, in a region where creator supply is almost nonexistent. It is a mid sized market where you can become the obvious choice within a year.
The producers of the Townships
Cheesemakers, wineries, cider houses, craft breweries, maple producers and growers sell well beyond the region, often by shipping and through social media. The product films naturally, the process is visible, and these brands need new content all year.
The university calendar
September fills the city and May empties it. Food, housing, clothing, technology and services all depend on that cycle. Campaigns get decided in July and August, which means filming before the summer ends.
Outdoor has two seasons
Hiking, cycling and lakes in summer, skiing and snowshoeing in winter. Unlike many regions there is no dead season, only two different audiences. Accommodation and equipment retailers decide their communication six weeks before each switch.
A market where reputation travels
In a city this size, two satisfied clients bring the third without any pitching. The reverse is equally true. That pushes you to care about deadlines and communication at least as much as image quality.
Charge like a regional supplier
Many of these clients sell across Quebec and sometimes further. They compare against Montreal prices, not against the local cost of living. Do not lower your rate because the city is smaller, set it against what the content will do.
