Food video does not convert by being pretty. It converts by triggering a physical reaction in three seconds. That difference explains why so many food brands buy content that sells nothing.
What actually converts
Sound
The crunch, the bubbling, the cut. In food, audio does more work than image, and it is the first thing neglected.
The real first bite
The reaction of someone genuinely tasting, including the pause before they speak.
Steam, drip, stretch
Movement of the product, not of the camera.
The consumption context
Where and when it is eaten. A Sunday aperitif sells more than a perfect plate on marble.
Real time preparation
Especially if the product saves time. Showing the actual three minutes convinces more than saying "ready in minutes".
Which creators to hire
The one who knows how to film food, not the one who cooks well. They are two different skills and the brand needs the first.
Ask for previous food product examples before hiring. An excellent beauty creator can deliver food that looks grey and unappetising, and it is not their fault: it is a specific technique.
And look for people whose kitchen resembles your customer's. A magazine kitchen signals that the product is not for everyday.
The brief that produces good material
Include: how the product is prepared step by step, at what time of day it is consumed, what mistake people usually make when using it, and the list of what cannot be claimed.
That last point matters: nutrition and health claims are regulated across the European Union and only authorised ones may be used. The risk sits with the brand.
Always ask for detail shots without a face. Those are the ones later recycled into product pages and short ads.
The Spanish calendar
The peaks are Christmas, which carries enormous weight in food, Easter week, summer with cold products and aperitifs, and the September return to school.
How many pieces to buy
For paid media, six creatives with three hooks each. And test at least two different consumption contexts: the same product at breakfast and as an afternoon snack can perform very differently.

In food, sound and context are worth more than production. Our complete UGC guide for brands explains the rest of the process.
