In health, dental and wellness, UGC works for a simple reason: nobody chooses a practitioner from advertising. But France is the strictest of the four markets on this subject, and that changes the whole construction of the campaign.

The limits, to know before writing the brief

In France, advertising by health professionals is tightly regulated. Historically prohibited, it has been relaxed towards a possibility of communicating information, but it remains subject to strict professional conduct rules that vary by profession.

In practice, that means content must stay informative and fair, without favourable comparisons, without promotional patient testimonials for certain professions, and without foregrounding results.

Consult the relevant professional body before producing. That is not excessive caution: it is what separates a useful campaign from disciplinary proceedings.

What remains possible and works

  • Educational content from the practitioner. Explaining why a pain appears, how a treatment proceeds, what an examination is for. It is informative, permitted, and it performs best over the long term.
  • The practice walkthrough. Reception, waiting room, accessibility, parking. It reduces friction without promising anything.
  • Explaining the care pathway. How many sessions, what is reimbursed, how coverage works.
  • Practical information. Opening hours, how to book, what to bring.

For unregulated wellness activities, non medical sports coaching, personal training, non medical aesthetics, the margins are wider, but the same caution about claims applies.

Health data

All health data is sensitive data. No patient testimonial is produced without explicit written consent detailing the use, and revocable at any time.

And no clinical image without specific authorisation for that particular use.

Which creators to hire

The practitioner themselves, as a priority. In this market, the professional's educational content is both the safest legally and the best performing.

The French calendar

The peaks are January, the September return, and December for anything involving out of pocket costs before cover renews.

Where to go next

In health, the legal framework dictates the format. Our complete UGC guide for brands explains the rest of the process.
