The first question a creator starting out in Portugal asks is almost always the same: how many followers before daring to offer your services. The answer fits in one word, and it surprises people: none.

What the brand buys, and what it does not

A brand ordering UGC buys a video file it will publish itself, from its own account or as an ad. Your audience is not part of the transaction, and that is exactly what separates this work from an influencer partnership.

Why your account still matters

It is not a channel, it is evidence. A brand checks three things there in thirty seconds: how you frame, what sound you get, and whether you can finish a sentence to camera. Three videos answer that, three hundred followers answer nothing.

What replaces the audience

What the brand looks atHow to prove it without an audience
Picture qualityA video shot near a window, no filter
Sound qualityA lapel mic and a room with curtains
Ability to follow a briefA video that respects a stated format
ReliabilityA deadline announced, then met

The three videos that are enough

A demonstration of a product you already own, an honest opinion on an everyday object, and a clean close-up shot. Those three formats cover most of what a brand orders, and they are filmed in one afternoon.

What Portugal changes about that start

The market is small, so reputation travels fast in both directions. A clean delivery for a brand in Porto is known in Lisbon within weeks, and so is a late one. That is a drawback when you fail and a considerable advantage when you hold your deadlines, because it takes far fewer clients than elsewhere to be known in your category.

What not to do to compensate

Buying followers is pointless, since nobody is buying them from you. Working for free to build a portfolio mostly attracts the brands that never pay. And quoting very low does not reassure: in a category where the brand is looking for reliability, an abnormally low price reads as a risk.

What to write in your profile when you have nothing to show

An empty profile is not a profile without an audience, it is a profile without answers. The brand reading it wants to know what you film, how fast, and in which language you deliver. Those three facts replace every number you do not have.

The line that replaces a figure

One line is enough, and it says what you do rather than who you are: the kind of products you film, the format you deliver and the turnaround you hold. A buyer in a hurry reads that line, watches one video, and decides. Nowhere do they look for a follower count, because they will not be publishing from your account.

What does not belong there

No promise of results, no list of logos you never served, and no claim of permanent availability that will not survive the first busy month. A brand checks what can be checked, and an unverifiable claim costs more than it earns.
